We stayed in a lovely apartment, newly built in a converted barn. Great location. The hosts were most welcoming. A perfect base to explore the lakes and surrounding hills. Highly recommend.
Rooms: Perfectly clean. Gorgeous interiors. Soft cotton bed sheets. All to a good standard.
Walkability: Can stroll into pretty local village on foot.

My son and I stayed on a cycle trip. This was our first choice for our stay, following a previous stay. Lovely, comfortable room. When we arrived, somewhat late, exhausted, cold and hungry, we were properly looked after.||Very comfortable beds, lovely room. Breakfast was gorgeous.||Cannot fault our stay.

Not your average bunkhouse! My running club hired out the whole lodge for a weekend Wainwright-bagging, and it was the perfect cosy base between expeditions. The rooms are generously sized with good showers, and the lodge was perfectly toasty despite fairly grim weather outside. The large kitchen was ample for a stampede of 20 hungry runners to self-cater each morning, and the 2 kettles came in handy! The living/dining room was a welcome social space in the evenings, especially huddled around the woodburner. I'd love to visit again, especially with the flexibility to book out individual rooms.
Walkability: Within walking distance of Shap's amenities, including the local shop a couple of minutes away.

The best place I've stayed in a long while. Such a fantastic old building, in a stunning spot.
Spotless, comfortable rooms (we stayed in a family room- 1 double, 2 single beds) and lovely staff who couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating.
Breakfast was great. We had leave early and a delicious full veggie was cooked for us and extra strong coffee made at our request 😊😊
It was a very brief stay, but we'll definitely be back, for longer next time, so we can enjoy some walking, swimming, pubs, hills.... Can't wait!

We stayed at New Ing Lodge for six nights with guests from the UK and Canada. Our stay was very comfortable, and all the rooms had comfortable beds, so after a long day of hiking and activities, we all got a lovely sleep. The interior décor is warm and honestly made us feel at home. The kids loved the games room, it kept them busy, whilst the Adults enjoyed the Sauna facility. There is a big yard at the back of the lodge with BBQ facilities, which we enjoyed using. A great place to stay, and on behalf of all the families who stayed at the lodge, a big thank you to Scott, Eeva & and the team for welcoming us and being super hosts. We look forward to visiting again soon.

Stopped off here on my motorbike going back home to Scotland. 5 mins from motorway, with a good choice of pubs and a takeaway within a few minutes walk from the lodge. It’s a converted old mansion house with grounds for guests to enjoy with backpackers and tourists mainly. A common room is provided to eat your takeaway. Very quiet rural setting.
Walkability: On the C2C trail and close to food outlets and grocery store.

We camped here while doing the Coast to Coast walk. It's great! Excellent facilities: shower, washing up area, covered seating area with tables, level camping pitches and a boiler room for drying boots. The people running it are very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!
